Accepted !
I had been busy the last couple of weeks. My wife and son came back from India on Monday the 16th, after which we drove to NY City on the 19th for my interview at New York Medical College in Westchester, NY (one of the most posh, expensive areas of the US). Driving back and forth between NY and Toronto was very tiring. We came back on the 21st.
This week on Monday, while at work, I got a surprising call, from the Department of Psychiatry at SUNY Buffalo. They offered me a position ! I was happy, very happy since SUNY was amongst my top choices out of all the 16 other places I had interviewed at. However, I had to to consult with my wife, parents, and friends. After all, we will be spending the next 4-5 years of our lives there. Finally, after considering that it was one of my favorite programs, and that Buffalo is a decent, livable city, very close to Canada (giving us the option of living in Fort Erie or Niagra Falls, while working in Buffalo), I accepted the offer today. I join in June.

Dr ji,
Many congratulations ! You seemed to have got the best of both worlds. :) And you are still within peg-sheg driving distance....
Congratulations Doc Saab: SUNY Buffalo is a nice place. I have been there just once when my brother was doing his MS in Engg.
Thank you Sphere sahib and Jas ji.
Indeed Sphere sahib, peg-sheg was on my mind while making this decision ! Actually a celebration is now due. Let me know whenever you are free again and we will get together. And not just the best of both worlds but three worlds, considering that Brampton is also close by and is now more like India than Canada !
Yes Jas ji, SUNY is good and their Psychiatry too. Though not very research extensive, it offers good clinical exposure. However, with I getting to keep my research previliges/associations at McMaster and UCSF, that shouldn't be a problem.
And talking of peg-sheg, the UB logo reminds me of a favorite beer while in college. It used to be called UB Export and had a logo very similar to that of SUNY's !
Doc Saab....You have been tagged! Do you wanna attempt the four-things tag for your next blog post? (For details, check my post)
How is the little one doing?
