Has 'multiculturalism' been imposed on Canadians?

I don't think so, however, that is the suggestion a lot of callers to the radio programs on conservative 1010CFRB make. Some others suggest, it has been Canadian "liberty". What do you think?

That is like asking "Has reality impacted your life?"
Multiculturalism in Canada is reality.
If one can't handle reality maybe they should check with their Doctor.
By the way I like the way Canada looks today.
We look good!

Multiculturalism has essentially arisen out of a necessity, that is Canada's desire to utilize its vast resources coupled with its already meagre and further dwindling populations. While some may like it and some others not, it is indeed a reality which can be Canada's strength. The contention, however, lies in the ignorance on part of those protesting and lack of a desire/conscious effort to assimilate into Canadian culture/society on part of the newcomers.

Are you saying "we all gotta work together?" That sounds about right.
That's how we got this far, eh?

I agree with you Doc Saab. I think that the immigrants (multiculturalism, if you will) are Canada's strength. Of course, to begin with, North America is basically comprised of immigrants...some settling here before others.

But, like you mentioned, the effort has to come from both sides.
