Self Caricature

Inspired by Jas ji's caricature, I did a self caricature. Though it looks a lot like me, I, however, have depicted myself as 'lean and mean' which I actually am not ! :) My picture in 'my profile' has also been replaced by a cropped image from this caricature.

The cartoon depicts me in my blue t-shirt which I wear most commonly these days (and of which my wife is fed up now ! She wants to make it into a 'pochaa'), a cup of medium-regular coffee in one hand, bunch of keys in the other, bag (contains nothing related to work but magazines; I hate novels) hanging from the shoulder. I apparently look happy going to work !

Has 'multiculturalism' been imposed on Canadians?

I don't think so, however, that is the suggestion a lot of callers to the radio programs on conservative 1010CFRB make. Some others suggest, it has been Canadian "liberty". What do you think?

I love these 'Goraas' !

Ian Chappell, on his brother Greg Chappell, to Sourav Ganguly: "Greg Chappell grew up in a household where frank opinions were served up at the breakfast table more often than cereal and fruit juice ... if you don't want to hear the truth, then don't ask him for a frank opinion."

While, I abhor these 'Desis'

Siddartha Vaidyanathan on Greg Chappell-Sourav Ganguly saga:
Those in positions of responsibility need to weigh their words carefully and Chappell, who can be captivating during his interactions with the media, must be alive to the repercussions. Even assuming that his statements about Ganguly were true, the question to be asked is whether there was anything to be gained by the publication of that truth.

This Weekend

Somehow weekends are always special. I don't know why? but there is always a feeling of relaxation. I worked full time over this weekend, and the days before, and am back at work on Monday morning, but still managed to watch 3 movies (Four Brothers, Family & Rang de Basanti), do cricket practice, take out my son to 'Toys-R-Us', and drink 4-5 pegs of Red Label !

As far as the movies are concerned, I was long waiting to see 'Rang de Basanti', which I did, however, amongst the two Bollywood films that I saw, I think 'Family' was better. Bollywood films haven't taken themselves to a level that you can expect them to depict reality. So, I look for entertainment in Bollywood films, which 'Family' gave a thorough serving of. While, 'Rang de Basanti' is a well made film, with good use of transitions and co-relations between the past and the present, and some good anecdotes, it failed, for me, in several ways, which include, that it isn't real (at all), Aamir Khan's Punjabi accented Hindi is pathetic, as is, Sharman Joshi's Haryanvi, and Madhavan's pilot act. I like watching realistic films with a message, and 'Rang de Basanti' was more like a melodramatic stage performance. On the other hand, as I said before, 'Family' was a full serving of entertainment, with Akshay Kumar's antics, and Amitabh Bacchchan's, now routine, rambunctious acts. Though, it would have been a lot better without the guy who played Akshay's brother.
